For this assignment I was tasked with building a series of small sculpture with the elements of art in mind. Starting from left to tight, the tallest sculpture represents space. Space is something our eyes are drawn to but it dosent have an actul form. to model this I created an analogous form that bends and contracts but holds space within as well as show spaces journey trough shadows. the dimensions help us to see more.
The repetition of shape is seen everywhere from architecture to the home. The triangle is most famous in architecture is the strongest shape. Stacked triangles is one of the most common bridge building methods as well. For this sculpture I used repetition of shape to recreate the right angle triangle in places and ways they would not go in an architecture environment. This organized chaos of shifting lines and angles traps the eye and leaves it bouncing from angle to angle.
I drew inspiration for my final sculpture fro a pineapple. I tried to use the element of balance in this piece. There are only 3 white and 3 black bands around its base and 2 white and 2 black tuffs that protrude from the top. To me this piece reminds me that balance is important and hard to achieve. I also leadsme to believe that even If every piece is not identical they can balance together.
