SPEAKING OF TOUCH
The "feeling" of touch can be found throughout the artistic world. The best example of this is provided by the article "Touch Reading" when it states "we care deeply for something when it touches us". An emotion that is conveyed through a 2D or 3D image that can have such an effect on yourself that "you feel some type of way". The sense of touch extends into the art world in many obscure ways one might not think about. A realist will paint a picture with the aim to make something tangible. Through the use of texture techniques the artist paints a picture that "feels" real to the eye. As if we could reach out and grab it for ourselves. Artists can also work with the intention of leaving a lasting impression through a piece of work or, to touch an audience through a piece of art or work.
The sense of touch is one of humanities oldest and most versatile senses. Cave men touched fire to learn it was hot due to the feeling of pain generated from the action. The sense of touch often refers to physical sensations only. However it is also known that humans can communicate through touch. Feelings and emotions can be transferred through various forms of physical contact or even the lack of. Our skin is the largest organ in, or around our bodies i should say, that feeds us information. while our skin obviously translates physical information like pain, heat, cold, discomfort, and health. It is also true that our skin reacts to emotional "touches" as well. When something is stimulating enough we get "goose bumps" a physical sensation derived from emotional information.
